Tier 1:
Our Tier 1 division is dedicated to the beginner or novice junior golfer aged 7 to 13. The program consists of a ½ day of golf specific activities at the Richmond Hill Golf Club, and a ½ day of various other fun sports activities including swimming, baseball, basketball, tennis and much more.
Headed by our Academy Director, Shawn Clement, all of our instructors are CPGA professionals and are dedicated specifically to growth and development in junior golf. Camp counselors are also on hand to lend assistance to our CPGA staff each day. All golf instruction is performed at a 6:1 student to teacher ratio, with groups created based on similar skill levels and age.
Our facilities consist of a championship 18 hole golf course, 21 station driving range, large putting green, bunker and chipping area, and 1500 square foot indoor facility. The indoor Golf Learning Centre is used to greet students upon arrival and departure, as well as an area to allow for indoor instruction on rainy days.
The golf portion of each day typically runs from 9:15 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with lunch and various other sports activities scheduled each afternoon. Below is an example of what is covered during a 1 week Tier 1 golf camp:
|
Monday: Learning setup fundamentals including grip, stance, posture, alignment & ball position. Introduction to the basics of the full swing including takeaway, backswing, impact and finish position. |
Tuesday: Introduction to short game including chipping, pitching, bunkers and putting. Each group of juniors will rotate between all 4 areas learning the fundamentals of each short game skill. |
Wednesday: Further development of full swing fundamentals, focus on drivers, fairway woods & hybrid clubs. Introduction to Rules of Golf and etiquette. Equipment 101 Seminar learning specifics such as composition of a golf club head, shaft, golf ball etc… |
Thursday: ON COURSE!! Juniors are taken onto the golf course to play a few holes. Learning how to tee a ball up correctly, replace divots and ball marks, count score, pace of play etiquette and much more. Play is conducted in a fun Scramble format, teaching the kids to work as a team. |
Friday: Full review and video swing analysis (emailed to each parent), RH "Junior Big Break" skills competition, & awards. |
Tier 2:
Our Tier 2 division is designed for junior golfers with a minimum of 3 years golf experience, or to those who have aspirations to play junior golf in school and/or CJGA events. If students have not participated in RH Golf Camp programs in the past, an evaluation with one of our CPGA instructors must take place prior to enrollment. It is recommended that all Tier 2 level students participate in a minimum 2 week program.
This is a full day golf program (8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.), with students getting on the course for 9 holes of play every day. The instruction is more advanced and the goal is to get them ready for tournament play, as many of our Tier 2 students play in CJGA events over the course of the summer.
Each day for our Tier 2 students starts at 8:30 a.m. with a 30 minute warm-up on the driving range. From there, the kids head out on to the course with one of our senior CPGA instructors for 9 holes of golf. While on course the instructor will evaluates their strengths and weaknesses and prescribes a practice session for post round. After lunch, the remainder of the afternoon is dedicated to improving specific key areas.
